Chairperson’s Report
Annual Reflection and Organizational Achievements
Introduction
As we close another year, I am truly inspired by the dedication and energy that each and every member of our Empowering People in Communities (EPIC) Incorporated team has brought to our mission. This year has been both busy and productive, marked by significant progress as well as heartfelt connections with our clients and local communities across the Pilbara and Goldfields regions. I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation for the passion, commitment, and tireless efforts that define our EPIC family. Your contributions continue to shape our organization and the lives we touch.
Achievements
This year, our organization undertook several important initiatives that reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service:
- Internal and External Audits: We conducted a comprehensive internal audit, which helped us streamline our processes and ensure compliance with NDIS regulations. As a result, we achieved a 100% pass rate on the required external audit—a testament to our team’s meticulous attention to quality and regulatory standards.
- Cultural Revival Program: We launched a cultural revival program aimed at strengthening our organizational identity and fostering a sense of belonging. This initiative included team workshops on cultural awareness and inclusion, regular forums for sharing personal and community stories, and the celebration of local traditions. By encouraging open dialogue and mutual respect, we have deepened our connection with both our staff and the communities we serve.
- HR Improvements: Significant enhancements were made to our Human Resources systems and frameworks. We introduced a centralized HR platform for more efficient management of employee records, streamlined onboarding processes, and invested in professional development opportunities. These changes have improved support for our teams, allowing for clearer communication and more effective collaboration across all operational sites.
- Communication Upgrades: With the adoption of new communication tools and regular cross-site meetings, we have brought our dispersed teams together in more meaningful ways, ensuring alignment and shared purpose throughout the organization.
Team and Community Impact
Our collective efforts have strengthened our ties to the community and enhanced the experiences of our clients:
- Client Engagement: The Hedland teams have expanded the supported independent living program, enabling clients to thrive in their own spaces while receiving tailored support. This initiative has resulted in greater client satisfaction and improved independence.
- Operational Improvements: The Kalgoorlie team successfully relocated to temporary office accommodation, ensuring continuity of services while we plan and upgrade our broader infrastructure. These changes reflect our commitment to providing safe, accessible, and welcoming environments for both staff and clients.
- Inclusive Practices: Through our cultural revival and HR improvements, we have enhanced the sense of inclusion and well-being within our organization, ensuring that everyone feels valued and heard.
Looking Ahead
Our strategic plan continues to guide us as we pursue new opportunities and prepare for future challenges. We are excited to progress with infrastructure upgrades and expand our independent living portfolio. As we enter the next financial year, we remain vigilant about external market changes and are committed to maintaining a flexible, agile, and adaptable approach to whatever may arise.
Conclusion
This year has been nothing short of EPIC—challenging, rewarding, and filled with extraordinary achievements. I invite all team members to share their own highlights and stories from the past year, so we can continue to celebrate our collective impact and inspire one another. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and for making EPIC a place where everyone can thrive.
Sincerely,
Shanine Ryan
