Client Services & Support Coordination
2024-2025 Overview: Empowering People, Enriching Communities
Across every EPIC location, our unique regional footprint continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disability. As a proud NDIS-registered provider, we remain committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred supports that empower participants to achieve their goals and live with greater independence and purpose. Our work is guided by the NDIS Practice Standards and underpinned by compassion, inclusion, and accountability.
Supporting Independence and Connection
EPIC’s core services span a broad range of supports — from community participation and social engagement to independent living, respite, psychosocial, and short-term accommodation programs. With a strength-based approach, we tailor each service to the individual, ensuring that every person’s abilities and aspirations are at the centre of their journey.
We continue to address community needs by expanding employment initiatives, accommodation options, and inclusive programs that foster connection, skill-building, and belonging.
Respite that Feels Like Home
Our two fully accessible respite facilities in the Pilbara region offer more than just a place to stay — they provide a home away from home experience. These welcoming spaces give participants the opportunity to take a break from daily routines, learn new skills, meet new people, and enjoy enriching activities. For carers, our respite services offer essential short-term relief, supporting wellbeing for both participants and their families.
Community Engagement and Growth
Throughout the year, our dedicated teams have continued to build strong relationships across the sector — sharing knowledge, lived experience, and advocacy through community events, cultural celebrations, and mental health and inclusion initiatives.
EPIC also proudly supports the next generation of community professionals by hosting student placements, creating pathways into the care and disability sectors. This hands-on learning not only strengthens the local workforce but ensures that EPIC’s values of empowerment and inclusion continue to ripple through our communities.
Client Success
In Kalgoorlie, One participant, Allen, was discharged from hospital after four months and transitioned into our Davidson Street property. Allen expressed deep gratitude for this opportunity, as his home had been damaged in a recent earthquake, leaving him without a safe place to return to. Without this accommodation, he would have been required to remain in hospital. Thanks to the completion of renovation works, Allen was able to move in comfortably and receive the support he needed for his daily care. He has since settled in well and is enjoying the comfort and independence of being out of the hospital environment.
Nathan is a participant in South Hedland and has been patiently waiting for his Home and Living Funding through the NDIS to be approved, we have had some setbacks with the changes in his Occupational Therapist and timely completion of the OT report to support his transition to an independent living situation. Nathan will be our first participant to move into the SIL house on Koolama Crescent. Until his Home and Living funding is approved Nathan has been residing at the Pilbara Retreat and has been receiving full time support. Nathan has been a vocal member at any events that have taken place at the Pilbara Retreat during the time he has been there. He loves music / being outside and good company where he can be heard laughing.
James is thriving in his new home, sharing with Alex and Morgan to create a lively and supportive atmosphere. He has quickly become known as the movie enthusiast of the house, hosting regular weekend movie nights where everyone gathers to enjoy both classic favourites and the latest releases. His infectious enthusiasm for films has sparked laughter, great conversations, and a wonderful sense of connection among the housemates.
Beyond his love for movies, James is also passionate about sports. Whether he’s cheering for his favourite teams or discussing game highlights, his energy is contagious. The group often plans to watch matches together, strengthening their bond and adding excitement to their daily lives.
Shopping outings are another highlight for James. He enjoys exploring local stores, discovering hidden treasures, and sharing his finds with friends. These outings not only fuel his interests but also build deeper friendships as the housemates enjoy the experience together.
Most importantly, James has shared how much he loves living at Koolinda House. He appreciates the balance of support and independence it provides—giving him the freedom to pursue his hobbies while fostering meaningful relationships.
James’ story is a wonderful reflection of what supportive living can offer: friendship, fun, and the confidence to live life to the fullest.
Inclusion
Inclusion is happening! A typical week at EPIC will see you meeting and greeting new staff and participants in our hub and office spaces to feel supported and connected across EPIC. A range of fun events are held regularly to offer a place to build your support network, have new experiences and have fun. Movie nights are a great way to come together and share a few laughs over popcorn. Art activities also help our participants to paint the world in which they live through cultural exploration, reflection and feeling.
Social Enterprise
The EPiCafé in Kalgoorlie has continued to go from strength to strength over the past year. Our 12-week Social Enterprise Program, designed specifically for people with disabilities, has seen a steady stream of participants successfully completing their training. Each graduate attains a TAFE-accredited Barista qualification, while developing practical hospitality skills to complement their studies — all under the supportive guidance of our Program Coordinator, Jackie.
Graduates also gain valuable real-world, paid experience in our vibrant café and coffee window, providing a genuine pathway into meaningful and sustainable employment.
A highlight of the year was EPiCafé being awarded the contract to service the Indian Pacific train — a remarkable achievement for our Kalgoorlie team. Every Sunday morning, the team proudly caters for around 190 guests as the train passes through on its iconic journey from Sydney to Perth, serving top-quality treats that leave weary travellers both delighted and inspired.
