Community Events

Teddy Bears Picnics & Early Years Expo’s bring together families with fun and interactive activities for everyone to enjoy. Working closely across network partnerships and local businesses to promote local parenting information specific to each region and offer a platform to encourage conversations around practical parenting.

The 2024 Teddy Bears picnic was a huge success, after missing the event in 2023, it was back with power – boasting one of the biggest turnouts yet, with 200 families registering as they entered the event. There were sensory play stalls, bouncy castles, face painting, teacup rides, storytime, ballet performances, horse grooming and pats, free coffee for parents and a wide range of informative stalls from local providers.

Feedback was really positive, with the post event survey showing that families reported:

• An increased awareness of developmental milestones, after attending this event

• And, an increased awareness of the early childhood services available in Karratha, after attending this event

 

 

Parenting Programs

The Parenting programs run Pilbara wide, and continue to strengthen families by delivering practical, inclusive, and community-driven workshops across the region. Through collaboration with local partners, the program creates trusted spaces where parents can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. Each session offers not only new tools and strategies to support everyday parenting, but also a sense of belonging and reassurance that they are not alone in their journey. This program stands as a reflection of EPIC’s enduring commitment to empowering families and building resilient communities in the remote Pilbara, a region where many families live away from their usual extended family support networks.

 

The tips I learnt at the Overwhelm in Parenting workshop were priceless! I can’t wait to use them at home immediately. Thank you EPIC and Sarah!
